" Penso que podemos certamente argumentar sobre Bob Marley como o artista do século porque não posso pensar em nenhum outro artista cujo impacto tenha sido tão amplo e tão profundo. Porque a mensagem de Bob não serve apenas aos países de Terceiro Mundo, onde ele foi o primeiro superstar vindo do terceiro mundo. Não é apenas aqui, é em todo o lugar. Na Europa, nos Estados Unidos, no Japão, em todo o mundo. E não consigo pensar em outro indivíduo que falasse como ele sobre consciência, coisas que têm a ver com a nossa realidade social, como a gente vive e a qualidade da justiça que obtemos em nossa sociedade, todas essas questões. E além disso tudo, ainda cantar lindas e revigorantes canções de amor. Então ele nos deixou um legado sem paralelo na história da música popular. Sua música não era apenas o reggae, porque ele incorporou muitas outras influências. Era quase jazz e havia também muito de blues acontecendo ali. Cedella Booker, morreu aos 81 anos em Miami enquanto dormia na noite de terça-feira

Cedella Marley Booker, mais conhecida por ser a mãe do maior ídolo do Reggae de todos os tempos - Bob Marley, faleceu na noite da última terça-feira, 8 de abril de 2008. Segundo informações, "Mother B", como era conhecida faleceu enquanto dormia e tinha 81 anos. Nascida em Kingston, capital da Jamaica, Cedella se casou aos 18 anos com o Capitão Norval Sinclair Marley, um Jamaicano branco descendente de Ingleses.

Deste casamento, nasceu Bob Marley, que por poucas vezes teve contato com o seu pai. Norval morreu em 1955 vítima de um ataque cardíaco aos 60 anos. "Mother B" estava morando na Flórida, Estados Unidos, tendo escrevido dois livros sobre o filho: "Bob Marley, My Son" e "Bob Marley: An Intimate Portrait by His Mother". Cedella ainda mostrou seus dotes artísticos lançando o álbum "Awake Zion" com os The Wailers e "Smilin’ Island of Song". A família está preparando um memorial em homenagem à matriarca da família.

Ouvi suas canções sendo tocadas quando caiu o Muro de Berlim, quando Israel assinou o acordo de paz com os palestinos, quando um membro do U2 reuniu facções inimigas na Irlanda (da mesma forma que Bob juntou Manley e Seaga no One Love Peace Concert em meados dos anos 1970)."
