Bob Marley: Exodus 30th Anniversary DVD

Recorded in London following an attempt on his life, Exodus shows Bob Marley mellowing a bit. Despite some powerful political tracks, Marley adopts a less fiery, more reflective approach than his previous outings. Still, it's hard to find reggae as good as this. Exodus has all one would expect from a Bob Marley album: rumbling statements like "Exodus" and "The Heathen" as well as poetic love songs like "Turn Your Lights Down Low." Considering how good these tracks are, Exodus does not stop here. Marley also unleashed the huge international hits "Jamming," "Waiting in Vain," and "One Love/People Get Ready." These inspired tracks, perhaps more than any others, came to define Marley around the world. They are irresistible no matter how many times they are played. Never one to dodge innovation, "Exodus" hints that Marley was taking cues from the emerging dub scene. Exodus, even though it contains some of Marley's best work, has an underlying nostalgic feel to it, hinting that Marley was getting a little formulaic. RAIZ TRIBAL

O nome da banda já diz tudo RAIZ TRIBAL que significa a fidelidade às bases de formação e cultura familiar, equivalente a raiz original da identidade de um povo.

Os integrantes da Banda RAIZ TRIBAL tem como genitores os componentes de uma das bandas mais populares e carismáticas de reggae do país, a banda Tribo de Jah.

RAIZ TRIBAL nasceu na capital do Estado do Maranhão, em São Luis, a chamada “Jamaica Brasileira” hoje reside em São Paulo.

Os idealizadores Gill Enes e Keké Enes filhos de Netto Enes (guitarrista da Tribo de Jah) se juntaram e decidiram criar a banda com o propósito, de inovar sendo uma ferramenta de externalização cultural e expressão musical da vivência dos mais humildes e carentes da sociedade brasileira, ou criticar a política nacional, e sim passar uma mensagem de paz, amor e igualdade social.

Keké Enes, fez parte da Tribo de Jah durante 5 anos gravou 3 Cds: “The Balylon Inside 2006”, “Love to the World Peace to the Peaple 2007” o ultimo “Refazendo 2008” e o DVD “Live in Amazonas” em Belém do Pará.

Já acompanhou também os Artistas Internacionais: Tiken Jah Fakoly, Don Carlos, Andrew Tosh, Pablo Mosés, Dennis Alcapone, Clinton Fearon “ex-The Gladiators”, e o Professor do Reggae no Brasil, Nengo Vieira “Tribo de Abraão” gravando o seu 1º DVD “Avivamente”.

Fazem parte da banda RAIZ TRIBAL: Leonardo Rabelo natural de São Luís, filho de Aquiles Rabelo (baixista da Tribo de Jah) e o baterista Thiago “Barrett” Guerra natural de São Paulo.

RAIZ TRIBAL já se apresentou em grandes eventos e festivais do Brasil onde passaram por: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Belém, Macapá, São Luis, Fortaleza entre outras...

O primeiro CD da banda (Sintonia) lançado após quatro anos de história amadureceu e criou uma repercussão entre o segmento musical, que teve como ingredientes paciência e dedicação.

Atualmente foi produzido o segundo CD batizado de “reggaeraggarootsskadub”, o qual resume as diferentes formas e seguimentos da música reggae. Os meninos possuem músicas de criação exclusivas, tais como: Oh! Lua e Arte Final que são as canções que não podem deixar de serem entoadas no show. E também os clássicos “We Again, Jah Sigo e Um eu Oculto” que levam o público a aflorar a emoção de estarem participando de um espetáculo recheado de profissionalismo e exclusividade artística.

Jamaica Groove | Tubarão/SC | Brasil

A fusão de diversos instrumentos e de outros estilos musicais, tais como a capoeira, o samba, o jazz e a psicodelia do dub, aliados aos sons do reggae, ritmo que combina a cadência hipnótica dos tambores com harmonias simples, buscando seguir a batida do coração. Deixa clara a idéia de criar um estilo de som experimental, sem preocupações com definições habituais. A mistura musical marcante, com mensagens positivas e críticas, visa proporcionar ao ouvinte momentos surpreendentes e contagiantes.

A primeira formação do grupo natural de Tubarão/SC, criado em novembro de 2002, surgiu com o intuito de agitar as badaladas noites de verão do Farol de Santa Marta, palco da primeira apresentação. Com outro nome e apenas três integrantes o Jamaica Groove já despertava a atenção do público e estava voltado para reproduzir versões acústicas de clássicos do reggae raiz nacional e internacional.
Com a entrada de novos integrantes e a necessidade de assumir uma identidade, incentivaram o grupo a expor sua arte, através dos diversos elementos adquiridos, músicas de composição, arranjo e produção próprias.

Formado por Frank Medeiros, (vocal, percussão e berimbau); Gustavo “Avohai” Medeiros, (violão, guitarra e escaleta); Diego Nunes, (guitarra e cavaco); Guilherme “Pilha” Santana, (baixo); Nido, (flauta transversal). Fabrício “Pokemon” Eufrázio, (bateria). E a soma de músicos de apoio com teclados e instrumentos de percussão.
O primeiro trabalho denominado “Mãe Terra” deseja mostrar uma seqüência de dez composições. Num primeiro momento a música e as letras expondo um ponto de vista crítico sobre um cotidiano atual comum, com as músicas: “Loucos”, “Dinheiro” e ”Ironia do Destino“. Em seguida “Pare pra Pensar”, o divisor de águas, para o início de um segundo momento. O grupo vem propor alternativas e mudanças, com as canções: O Progresso da Nação”, “O Profeta” e “No Caminho”. Para expandir o bem e motivar ainda mais, como sugere “ Não seja só mais um Covarde”. Afim de reforçar a mensagem e convidar a todos, como diz a letra em “Vamos Todos”. E finalizando esse trabalho na idéia principal, a valorização da vida e da ”Mãe Terra”.Em suas apresentações ao vivo, além de tocar suas próprias canções, o Jamaica Groove mistura ao seu repertório, músicas de artistas já consagrados, como Gilberto Gil, Bob Marley, O Rappa, Pink Floyd, Dazaranha entre outros. Unindo com criatividade, outros gêneros musicais ao som do reggae.
Todas as apresentações da banda aconteceram no estado de Santa Catarina. A intenção de inovar e ganhar cada vez mais espaço no meio musical, através da cultura, do reggae e de mensagens positivas e de incentivo, vem mostrar ao público que freqüenta os shows, o entrosamento do grupo que cultiva suas raízes e expande seus caminhos, conquistando o reconhecimento.

Various Artists- Trojan Ganja Reggae Box Set [2008]

This is a great compilation. Disc 1 is early reggae (1970-1974), mostly instrumentals, pretty rare tracks too. Stand out tracks are 'Kaya' by Bob Marley (produced by Lee Perry) and 'Half Ounce' by Big Youth, which is a dub of the rockfort rock rhythm.
Disc 2 is 1975-1978, the roots era, Horace Andy's take on Cornell Campbell's 'Gorgon' plus the dub, 'The Reggae Crusaders' doing a version of Flabba Holt's African Train riddim (very cool) plus the dub, 'Bushweed Corn Trash' plus dub, three versions of the Rupie Edwards 'Irie Feelings' rhythm, 4 versions of Linval Thompson's 'I Like To Smoke Marihuana' and more solid roots efforts by Johnny Clarke, Joe White, Tappa Zukie & Cornell Campbell. 'Ashanti Ganja Dub' is an extended dub work out of that old soul song 'Stand By Me'.
Disc 3: 1977-1985, beginning to sound more like dancehall, with mostly The Revolutionaries and the Roots Radics playing as backing band. A lot of cool dub tunes here, Horace Andy's 'Collie Weed' is on the 'I Need A Roof' rhythm, 'Herb' by the Revolutionaries is the 'Scorcher' rhythm, 'Collie Weed' by Barrington Levy = 'My Conversation'; 'Scientist Ganja Dub'= African Beat, 'Cannabis Dub' = heavenless (very hypnotic), 'Sensi For Sale' by the Tufftones is a somewhat dated but still enjoyable take on the 'Sleng Teng' and the only digital tune on this great compilation.
