LIVE FOREVER: an evening of tribute to Bob Marley at the Pittsburgh Benedum Theatre

The Stanley Theatre (now the Benedum Center) in Pittsburgh, Pa. is the last venue where Bob Marley and The Wailers performed publicly on September 23, 1980 before his passing. On September 23, 2010, exactly 30 years after that magical evening, the Marley family will come together for a live tribute concert benefiting their One Love Foundation and honoring their father. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be going to support the One Love Not-For-Profit Foundation.

The Marley family and guests will be performing the exact set list from Bob's 1980 Stanley Theatre show. Confirmed performers so far include Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Cedella Marley and The Marley girls. In addition to the Marley children The Queen Mother herself (and member of the I-3s who also performed at Bob's last show) Rita Marley will be traveling from her home in Ghana to be part of this special prestigious event. Appearing with Rita will be former I-3 member, Marcia Griffiths.

As hosts Jean-Pierre Dionnet , Philippe Manœuvre (la nouvelle star),Patrice Blanc-Francard (who interviewed bob back in the 70's)
but also Jacky (Jacques Jakubowicz,who was in charge of bob marley and the wailers for France during the 70's)

For the knowledge, there was at that time no others program like this one, apart of one called 'platine 45' (1982-1986)

This program being now seen as cult, i do recall my slow poke watching it heh

The program was all about music, with various themes named like that : rockline,rock'n' roll graffiti,sex machine,houba houba

making you able to see the wailers live in paris threw short sequences, the whole concert being held in vault for so long.
The high point being the fan who came to stage , dancing with bob marley ..
The documentary featuring extract of 'rasta and the ball' (rasta et ballon rond) from Jean Pierre Jansen and P.Alessandrini
it's also showing part of the rainbow sequence (redemption song, exodus,stir it up)
the duration of the documentary being like more than 1:09 hour of pure viewing pleasure.

A Amplexos foi formada há cinco anos em Volta Redonda-RJ. O grupo lançou seu primeiro disco ainda em 2008, virtualmente, pelo site www.amplexos.com . Mais tarde, fizeram o lançamento físico do álbum, pelo selo carioca Bolacha Discos. O primeiro trabalho do grupo é resultado dos anos iniciais de carreira, com músicas do começo da história da banda e músicas já mais recentes, e funciona como uma coletânea, um registro das melhores canções da primeira fase da banda, muito ligada ao rock e à música brasileira.

Ainda em 2008, a banda ganhou o Prêmio Uirapuru, promovido pela revista gaúcha O Dilúvio, na categoria “Melhor Álbum do Ano”, em votação popular (público leitor), mesmo tendo lançado o disco apenas virtualmente na época. A mistura de rock, blues e música brasileira e as grandes doses de música pop da banda renderam ainda em 2008 a participação em pequenos festivais do Rio de Janeiro, como o “B de Banda” (Jornal do Brasil).

Em 2009, com o lançamento físico do material, conquistam espaço ainda maior na cena independente carioca, com muitos shows nas principais casas do gênero, além de apresentações em São Paulo e Minas Gerais. Nesse mesmo ano, formatam o evento “Amplexos Convida”, em Volta Redonda – uma festa mensal que convida bandas da região sul-fluminense e de fora com trabalho autoral relevante para apresentações em conjunto. O evento consolida o público da Amplexos na região e fortalece o nome do grupo no Rio de Janeiro e Brasil como uma banda que, além de fazer música de qualidade, trabalha pela construção de uma cena.

Em 2010 a banda lança o single “A Atriz” uma regravação da música presente no primeiro disco, com novo arranjo e masterização de Gustavo Lenza (Céu, Curumin). A música mostra a evolução nos arranjos do grupo e traz um aperitivo dos novos trabalhos que virão, com influências diretas de reggae, dub e psicodelia. O lançamento do single aconteceu por meio de uma estratégia bolada pelo próprio grupo, em que mais de 40 blogs e sites musicais formaram uma corrente e disponibilizaram a música para download em um mesmo dia. O lançamento recebeu destaque nos principais sites e blogs de música do país, além de trer recebido notas nos mais diversos jornais.

Participaram recentemente das seletivas cariocas para o Festival MADA, um dos maiores do país, chegando às finais, junto com outras sete bandas, e importantes nomes do cenário independente brasileiro, além de terem participado do Grito Rock! (Volta Redonda e Resende-RJ).

Sobre o disco novo, atualmente em fase de produção:

Experimentar formas, estruturas e melodias características da música das periferias do mundo dentro da música pop é a proposta musical da banda Amplexos, de Volta Redonda-RJ, em seu segundo álbum, atualmente em fase de produção. Jamaica, Nigéria, Etiópia, Brasil e Cuba são os "guetos" que inspiram o grupo que, no primeiro disco, lançado em 2009 em parceria com o selo carioca "Bolacha Discos", já flertava, ainda que timidamente, com tais inflluências dentro da música pop rock.

Música dançante, suingada, mas sem ser festiva. Música repleta de climas obscuros e reflexivos e viradas que remetem ao rock progressivo. O novo disco, previsto para ser lançado em 2011, promete ser um álbum conceitual, que conta a saga de um cético que descobre a espiritualidade e entra em contato com um novo mundo através da música.

An amazing but true story about an experimental dub session organized
by BOB MARLEY in Jamaica in 1979!!!

In 1979 during a visit to Japan, Bob Marley met the
acclaimed Japanese percussionist Pecker. Pecker, a big fan of reggae,
convinced Marley to bring top Japanese musicians
(mostly members of The Yellow Magic Orchestra) to Jamaica to mix it up
with the cream of Jamaican reggae artists, to jam and play out in informal
dub sessions at both Channel One and Tuff Gong Studios. The astounding results
were released only in Japan on two separate LP's in 1980. Set List:

Nascido em Kingston, na Jamaica com o nome de Ripton Hylton, Eek-a-Mouse começou a dar os seus primeiros passos no reggae, quando ainda estava na faculdade.
Eek-a-Mouse participou no duo de reggae chamado Michigan and Smiley, e também no álbum da banda de nu metal Satellite, dando a sua voz ao tema "Ridiculous." Eek-A-Mouse também foi ator no filme de gangsters de 1991 intitulado New Jack City, onde interpretava o papel de de um passador de droga rastafári, Fat Smitty, que tem um final trágico.
Eek-a-Mouse (nome verdadeiro: Ripton Hylton, Kingston, Jamaica) , 19 de Novembro de 1957) é um cantor jamaicano, uma das primeiras estrelas do reggae no país. É responsável pelo sub-género de reggae conhecido como singjaying, e ficou famoso por ter feito em mais de 200 shows por ano nos Estados Unidos da América, Países Baixos, Alemanha, Reino Unido e Índias Ocidentais.

O designer gráfico Emerson Araújo tinha dois anos quando Marley morreu e conta que chegou ao reggae influenciado por amigos de escola.

“Lembro de aos 12 anos ganhar de um amigo uma fita cassete do Alpha Blondy, não me interessava muito pelas letras, apenas pelo ritmo bem contagiante. A partir dos 15 já estava com quase toda a coleção original do Bob, todas em cassete e à procura das traduções das letras”, recorda Emerson.

O designer acredita que Marley mudou o jeito de ver a vida de muitos jovens que procuravam no reggae uma forma de libertação, seja mental, na vida amorosa ou na forma de tratar o próximo. Para ele, essa é a cara dessa geração que curte o som do Bob. A música Zimbabwe é a que mais o impressiona.

“Pela força dos versos, que tocam a alma daqueles que sentem a necessidade da busca de um caminho melhor”, reflete o fã.

Como ele sempre colecionou tudo o que encontrava sobre Bob, em janeiro de 2007 resolveu juntar alguns textos e fotos num blog, com a intenção de unir num só lugar informações para compartilhar com os fãs de todo o mundo.

“A ideia era falar sobre a vida dele e de todos os que o cercavam, como família, componentes da banda, amigos, suas influências”, conta.

Ele aproveita para destacar um trecho da obra do jamaicano:

“Todo homem tem o direito de decidir sobre o seu próprio destino. E este julgamento terá de ser imparcial Então ombro a ombro, e armados, combateremos nesta pequena luta, pois é a única forma de superar o nosso pequeno problema”.

Recorded in London following an attempt on his life, Exodus shows Bob Marley mellowing a bit. Despite some powerful political tracks, Marley adopts a less fiery, more reflective approach than his previous outings. Still, it's hard to find reggae as good as this. Exodus has all one would expect from a Bob Marley album: rumbling statements like "Exodus" and "The Heathen" as well as poetic love songs like "Turn Your Lights Down Low." Considering how good these tracks are, Exodus does not stop here. Marley also unleashed the huge international hits "Jamming," "Waiting in Vain," and "One Love/People Get Ready." These inspired tracks, perhaps more than any others, came to define Marley around the world. They are irresistible no matter how many times they are played. Never one to dodge innovation, "Exodus" hints that Marley was taking cues from the emerging dub scene. Exodus, even though it contains some of Marley's best work, has an underlying nostalgic feel to it, hinting that Marley was getting a little formulaic. O nome da banda já diz tudo RAIZ TRIBAL que significa a fidelidade às bases de formação e cultura familiar, equivalente a raiz original da identidade de um povo.

Os integrantes da Banda RAIZ TRIBAL tem como genitores os componentes de uma das bandas mais populares e carismáticas de reggae do país, a banda Tribo de Jah.

RAIZ TRIBAL nasceu na capital do Estado do Maranhão, em São Luis, a chamada “Jamaica Brasileira” hoje reside em São Paulo.

Os idealizadores Gill Enes e Keké Enes filhos de Netto Enes (guitarrista da Tribo de Jah) se juntaram e decidiram criar a banda com o propósito, de inovar sendo uma ferramenta de externalização cultural e expressão musical da vivência dos mais humildes e carentes da sociedade brasileira, ou criticar a política nacional, e sim passar uma mensagem de paz, amor e igualdade social.

Keké Enes, fez parte da Tribo de Jah durante 5 anos gravou 3 Cds: “The Balylon Inside 2006”, “Love to the World Peace to the Peaple 2007” o ultimo “Refazendo 2008” e o DVD “Live in Amazonas” em Belém do Pará.

Já acompanhou também os Artistas Internacionais: Tiken Jah Fakoly, Don Carlos, Andrew Tosh, Pablo Mosés, Dennis Alcapone, Clinton Fearon “ex-The Gladiators”, e o Professor do Reggae no Brasil, Nengo Vieira “Tribo de Abraão” gravando o seu 1º DVD “Avivamente”.

Fazem parte da banda RAIZ TRIBAL: Leonardo Rabelo natural de São Luís, filho de Aquiles Rabelo (baixista da Tribo de Jah) e o baterista Thiago “Barrett” Guerra natural de São Paulo.

RAIZ TRIBAL já se apresentou em grandes eventos e festivais do Brasil onde passaram por: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Belém, Macapá, São Luis, Fortaleza entre outras...

O primeiro CD da banda (Sintonia) lançado após quatro anos de história amadureceu e criou uma repercussão entre o segmento musical, que teve como ingredientes paciência e dedicação.

Atualmente foi produzido o segundo CD batizado de “reggaeraggarootsskadub”, o qual resume as diferentes formas e seguimentos da música reggae. Os meninos possuem músicas de criação exclusivas, tais como: Oh! Lua e Arte Final que são as canções que não podem deixar de serem entoadas no show. E também os clássicos “We Again, Jah Sigo e Um eu Oculto” que levam o público a aflorar a emoção de estarem participando de um espetáculo recheado de profissionalismo e exclusividade artística.
